The hall of College of International Collaboration (Houston International Institute) has recently become a popular spot for students to check in. It is hard to find a place in front of the display board in the hall during class breaks. It is the Exhibition “Key Moments in History: Path to Glory” created by the college, which has aroused wide interest among students. According to Shao Guang, secretary of CPC committee of College of International Collaboration, this activity takes the opportunity of celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, designing the glorious moments of the Party’s 100-year history onto a display board in sequence of time, and summarising and displaying it in English, making the teaching space into an immersive education “Cultural Fair”.

With appropriate atmosphere, everyone is able to speak up. The exhibition lies in students’ teaching places, integrating Party history education with students’ daily life. The form is novel and the sense of substitution is profound. Students can use the “spare time” after school to learn. The relaxed ambience encourages students to get involved, participate in discussions and sharing.

“This Party history education exhibition is a very special showcase, where all the design is unique and novel. My classmates and I are willing to come here after class, we talk about what we’ve seen on the boards, and see who’s first one to find the mentioned info on the board. It also deepens my understanding of Party history.” Student from 2020 ME programme, Fang Zhenyu said.

It educates through the entertainment and never stops learning English. In line with the mission of the college to cultivate international talents, the exhibition is delivered in English, which closely integrates the study of Party history and English learning, as well as the cultivation of global vision and patriotism.

“Human Community with a Shared Future, Scientific Outlook on Development, Moderately Prosperous Society, these expressions in English are all learned from this exhibition. Watching the exhibition can also learn English, and these phrases we often hear. It appears English is around me.” Student from 2020 EE programme, Liu Jinze said.

In retrospect of a hundred years, “The View of Great History” focused on the history of the Party. The exhibition was sequenced by timeline and emphasised on the Party’s 100-year history. So, students were able to intuitively feel glorious moment of the Party. And in the meantime, the glorious moment was also the development history of the Chinese nation, modern China and human civilisation.

“Looking at the displayed boards, they were very immersive. I was moved by the great efforts had been taken from of the Communist Party of China. Without the Communist Party, there would be no new China. I was more deeply aware of where the happy life came from, I would be down-to-earth as a determined patriot and never-ending struggler.” Student from 2020 CE programme, Chen Yuan said.

College of International Collaboration has always focused on the fundamental issue of “who to educate, how to train and for whom to teach” to implement the underlying tasks of the strengthening moral education and cultivating people. It also adheres to ideological and political education entrenched in mind and heart, reaping the benefits and promoting professional expertise whenever and wherever possible. This exhibition, by creating an immersive atmosphere, guides students to “learn the history of the Party well and tell Chinese stories well”. Meanwhile, it is able to bring the power of youths altogether to achieve the dream of Chinese about the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
